Grime GOAT Ordered!
So after originally missing the first wave of GOATs and being very disappointed when all the sulfur frames were sold out within an hour, I randomly went online to check if there was a new shipment late yesterday. To my extreme luck I found that they had a medium sulfur GOAT which I quickly grabbed (I later found out it was the last one). I CAN'T WAIT for this frame to come! If you're interested, last time I checked they had a L Sulfur Goat and M/L Wet Black GOATs. They go quick though so click here!

Track of the day pt II: Moon Bounce
Another great tune off Hoodie's new mixtape "Leap Year" hoodieallen.com
Update on the Grime GOAT
So apparently the delay in the release of the GOAT due to a slight design change. The frame is bound to drop within the month though.
"hard to say exact date with customs and shipping. which are both a variable. but within the next two weeks."
"we may open orders very soon."
"since the rear end had new tubing drawn for it the factory is taking a little longer to finish up. we will keep everyone posted."

Track of the day: Ball of the Dead Rat
I know this is from 4 years ago but I just discovered The Teeth and I LOVE this song. The upbeat reggae/pop feel mixed with vocals that sound like a mixture of The Clash, Elvis Costello, and Little Richard, make this song awesome! I haven't listened to the rest of the album yet but I'm excited to and encourage you to go buy it as well.

Grime Bikes: The Bone Mang? (New frame model)
"So there was a little test going on between myself and Wonka about rear ends. We both built up a bike with a different rear end and tested both and talked about how we felt. With the coming of the GRIME G.O.A.T. frame in the next few weeks we knew we wanted to make our US made (by squarebuilt) frame different. The G.O.A.T. has a traditional rear end in the since of seat stays and chainstays, although the production model's tube size is nothing traditional.
On Wonka's prototype we tried our first wishbone. It kept its strength, stayed straight, looked good, and felt stiff; it was everything we wanted. We were into the look of it so we decided that once we get the G.O.A.T.s in the barn we are going to be switching the Yo Mang frame to the nee Bone Mang design.
The geometry is close to the G.O.A.T and the newest Yo Mangs with a 75° headtube angle (with 420a2c fork) 73° seat tube angle and the perfect top tube lengths to go in according to seat tube lengths. The rear end is more laterally stiff than all other frames on the market. The oversized wishbone legs hold everything straight and our new oversized chainstays give ample clearance with even more strength. One of the coolest aspects of the Bone Mang is the color. A textured black created for the toughtest US made motorcycles with a masked off raw-burnt metal GRIME logo.
We are now on our 2nd generation of prototypes for the Bone Mang and planning for the third. There is going to be a stainless steel GRIME head badge (and a squarebuilt bone badge) on the production. The dropouts are going to be custom designed to prevent hanging up on grinds and keep weight down. The bottom bracket shell will be wider than traditional FGX frames but without comprimising chainline issues.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO ABOUT THE BONE MANG.
PHOTOS OF MY BONE MANG FRAME (detail shots as well as action) WILL BE RELEASED THIS WEEK.
FRAME IS PLANNED TO BE RELEASED MID-FALL 2011."
I mean, I'm a HUGE Grime fan and I think this frame sounds insanely dope but I think that Grime has to get their priorities straight. Originally, the GOAT was scheduled to be released early July yet until this slight mention they haven't been keeping everyone posted/pumped or even mentioned anything about the GOAT on their blog or tricktrack, like they just decided to drop it. The Bone Mang does sound legit but how are we supposed to buy the GOAT when they've obviously been preoccupied with another frame that could be better?; However this frame will be built by Squarebuilt as a replacement for the Yo Mang so we can assume it will be extremely good quality and much more expensive/high end than the GOAT will be. Either way I can't wait for the release of the GOAT (hopefully soon) and the upcoming Bone Mang as well.

RIP Dusty Rhodes & The River Band
After nearly ten years of amazing music, Dusty Rhodes and the River Band are calling it quits. Unfortunately, even though they were amazing, very few people knew about them. Their blues/indie-rock feel mixed with unmatched stage presence made them unbelievable to hear on and off the stage. I went to their last show at the Anaheim House of Blues and they certainly didn't go quietly. At one point the lead singer, Dustin Apodaca, came out in an American flag jumpsuit and played a behind the head synth solo that could probably be compared to the fall of the Berlin Wall, the atomic bomb at Hiroshima and when Jimi Hendrix set his guitar on fire during a live show. They will be missed extremely by their fans and even more so by those that won't get to see their legendary skill in the future. Be sure to check them out on I-tunes and www.cdbaby.com/. Counting Down the Days.......
I'm counting down the days until the Grime GOAT comes out so I can get off my track bike and actually start laying down some real tricks "The production model of the G.O.A.T. should be out in the next 3 months." and pre-orders probably when they're "done with their tour in mid april." It will have a "beefed up rear end, ST clamp through TT, new dropouts, new CS and SS bridges." Its estimated price is $360-400.

The future of fixed gear freestyle?
Elevated Engineering: Miles Mathia - Volume 3 from Elevated Engineering on Vimeo.
It's crazy to see where FGFS can go, and seeing someone going straight from urban tricks to dirt jumping is especially wild. I've never actually never seen someone doing dirt jumps on a fixed gear, I've only heard talk on forums/Prolly. It would seem that fixed gear tricks are dividing two ways: The heavily BMX influenced huge gaps/grinds/360° spin stuff that can break your top tube in half and then the more fluid/eloquent flatland (traditionally track bike) tricks. Although this divide is occurring there may be a middle-ground, such as is shown with Michael Chacon who started with strong flatland roots and now incorporates them into his other tricks.

Awesome.
Bike couriers chase down bicycle thief in wild downtown pursuit
"Two bike messengers saved the day for a Los Angeles man Monday when they chased a bike thief for five blocks downtown and then knocked him to the ground, causing him to flee, police said.
Jesus Tobar, 43, said he was working out at 24-Hour Fitness in the 500 block of Flower Street in downtown Los Angeles when he emerged to find his green Iron Horse Desperado Mountain Bike gone.
Tobar returned to the gym to ask if there was any security surveillance video. But two bike couriers had seen his $500 bike being taken and had already set off after the thief.
The couriers pedaled through downtown at high speed on a chase that traversed sidewalks and busy streets, said LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith. Eventually, one of the messengers was able to grab the thief's shirt and pull him to the ground.
The man then took off on foot and the couriers reclaimed the bike.
"This was a wild, high-speed bicycle chase through crowded streets of the Jewelry Mart," Smith said. "We are now looking for a 30-year-old man with a torn shirt, a possibly sprained ankle, as well as road rash."
Although this case had a happy ending, officials say bike thefts have been on the rise, increasing 29% last year and bucking an overall drop in crime. Los Angeles Police Department detectives believe the increase is in part a result of more people using bikes to get around in some neighborhoods. A Times analysis of LAPD data found the USC campus area, Venice, parts of Hollywood and downtown L.A. to be hot spots for bike thefts.Jesus Tobar, 43, said he was working out at 24-Hour Fitness in the 500 block of Flower Street in downtown Los Angeles when he emerged to find his green Iron Horse Desperado Mountain Bike gone.

As the thefts have increased, some people have taken matters into their own hands. Last month, bike messengers downtown caught two suspected thieves, teenage boys who attended a local Catholic high school, and stripped them down to their boxer shorts before taking their cellphones, backpacks and clothes.

Bike Check
This is my bike, I bought it complete as a RYD Masher and I'm trying to build it up. Although there is a lot of criticism towards the Masher (Cheaply made, standard "e-bay bike", etc) I can tell you it's not true, I've been riding this for a while now and it has held up fantastically. The parts are generally well made and the clearance (when running 650c) is good, also the tires are pretty skinny but now that I've changed out the grips I haven't had too many problems with shock absorption.
Specs:
Back: Maya 700c Alloy double wall, 32H w/ black spokes and a Quando High Performance (Flip-flop) Hub, and a Kenda road tire.
Front: Alex Rims 700c double wall with black spokes, a generic hub and a Kenda tire (I don't have clearance with this wheel but I'm only using it until I get my 650c, which broke in an accident, fixed)
Frame: RYD Masher (100% Cro-Mo)
Fork: (Generic) full Cro-Mo straight rake
Top Tube Pad: Pake (nylon)
Seat: RYD
Grips: Oury rubber MTB grips
Bars: RYD
Peg: Metal BMX Peg (Forgot the company)
Crank: 3PC, Lasco alloy forged 165mm, 36T
Chain: KMC Z410 white
Straps: Reload Straps
Pedals: Standard track pedals
Add-ons/Upgrades I'm going to add soon:
(Red)Higher quality Chain
(Red) DMR Swarm Stem
(Red) 44t Profile Imperial Sprocket/Imperial Cranks
(White) Volume Risers
(Red) BMX Cage Pedals
*Update: Although this bike is reliable and fun to use I realize that I can't do as many things on it as I could on a fat wheeled trick bike so hopefully in May when the Havoc V2 Frame from RYD comes out I'll pick up one of those and start a build*
