Yakkay Helmets

Got this as a belated x-mas gift and I think I've found the only helmet that I can wear out in public without hiding my face, this thing is awesome! Finally there's a helmet that can keep your style and your protect head from the pavement. There's constantly the conflict of not wanting to look stupid and at the same time all the dangers of having to deal with reckless drivers, cops (Under a certain age - I mean riding brakeless like many riders do, including myself, is trouble enough), careless pedestrians, other bikers, mechanical failure, losing control or just plain crashing, I mean the list goes on and on. So I highly recommend these, check out their site linked below they've even got a wide variety of types to choose from.

RYD Masher Pro and Conflict Prototype Release

Masher Pro

Conflict

Red Your Dead recently released their prototypes of the Masher Pro and Conflict models and they look sick! I love the classier thick/sleek track bike aspects of the new Masher, which is a big change from the old model that was skinnier and simpler so you can trick/fool around on it without worrying too much about any damage.
At first I didn't like the Conflict model but it has grown on me. Although it is very much a track-bmx hybrid the track geometry is still there enough that it seems like it would still feel like a normal fixed gear. One of the coolest features in my opinion is the fact that you can effectively fit pegs on to it without destroying your hubs and possibly getting seriously injured. Also, like on the Havok, the wheels are nice and fat so you can land huge gaps comfortably.
Overall, the new models are awesome and RYD is definitely taking leaps and bounds into the fixed gear scene in LA/SoCal and soon around the country, my hat goes off to you guys - Congrats!

Fixed Gear Bikes At Sports Chalet?

I was at Sports Chalet recently and as I walked in I noticed two hipsters with trick bikes buying wheels. So I looked around and sure enough I confirmed it - Sports Chalet now sells fixed gear bikes. Now I don't really have much against the (Swobo Sanchez) bikes themselves, they look generally well made. But really? Sports Chalet? Seeing this really makes me question what direction the fixed gear community will go towards in the future.

Keo Curry Signature Shoes

The legendary Keo Curry's new signature shoes, made by DVS, should be hitting the street at some point this month. Keo tends to use his feet frequently when he tricks (pushing off of things/propelling his spins etc) so I can only assume that they'll be very durable and tough to withstand that type of riding, while still being stylish and comfortable like most shoes made by DVS. It'll be nice to finally have a shoe that is specifically designed for fixed gear tricking, and hopefully this will be the first of many to come.

Keo is quoted saying:
“This shoe is a major milestone for the Fixed Gear Cycling community, having a custom colorway is a major addition to our quickly evolving culture."

Starfuckers Xenon Trick Bike

*Drool*

Although their bikes are insanely expensive Starfuckers definitely has some of the coolest/tougheset frames out there. If you can spare the cash and want something that'll make you stand out in the crowd they're the way to go.

This should be pretty tight

Introduction

Reasons I am starting this blog:
I adore music. (Tracks)
I love fixed gear bikes. (Track Bikes)

What you can expect:
Daily postings of what I'm listening to that day, almost like a music diary.
Updates on current events in the fixed gear scene as well as other things I find hilarious/cool.

This brings us to the very first track in TnTB history:

When I first bought this I thought it would be some lame remix of the Black Eyed Peas but it definitely surpassed my expectations, I've been hooked on it all day. I'm really starting to like the electronic direction the Black Eyed Peas have been heading towards recently.
